Tryouts
Tryouts for NCBA’s Golden Spikes will take place on-site at the North Carolina Baseball Academy, ensuring all players are evaluated, rain or shine. Athletes will have the opportunity to showcase their skills across multiple positions.
Open Tryouts
When: Tryouts are held in June/July for the upcoming Fall Season, and October for the Spring Season.
(10u and 11u) for Spring/Summer 2026 Season:

What to Bring:
– All equipment typically used in a game
– Cleats and turf shoes (both required for different surfaces)
Arrival Instructions:
– Plan to arrive 20-30 minutes early for check-in and warm-ups
Tryout Agenda:
1. Warm-up and Stretch
2. 60-Yard Dash (conducted on the turf track—turf shoes recommended)
3. Throwing Routine (play catch and loosen arms)
4. Infield/Outfield Evaluations (Pro-Style drills)
5. Catcher’s Evaluations (including pop times)
6. Pitcher’s Evaluations (velocity testing)
7. Hitting Evaluations
8. Closing Comments/Player Meeting
These tryouts offer a thorough assessment of each player’s abilities, helping the academy identify talent ready for advanced competition and player development.
