North Carolina's Premier Baseball Program

The Golden Spikes Award is given annually to the top amateur baseball player in the country. The award is sponsored by the Major League Baseball Players Association which represents Major League Baseball's commitment to the grass roots development of amateur baseball around the world. The winner of this prestigious award exhibits exceptional athletic ability and exemplary sportsmanship.

The North Carolina Baseball Academy will carry the name of the "Golden Spikes" for all of its elite travel showcase baseball teams (10u-17u). This program attracts and develops the area's most talented, dedicated, committed, and competitive baseball players. We will refine the knowledge and abilities of these athletes through exposure to our facility, our professional staff, and implementation of proven practice and coaching regiments. The Golden Spikes program will be the most comprehensive and complete program for the advanced player looking to advance skill levels and gain exposure to college coaches and professional scouts at those next levels of the game.

The Golden Spikes program is recognized as North Carolina's premier player development and college prospect programs. Often referred to as "the total package" due to the top-tier player development and training from former pros while competing at one of the nation's highest levels.

Players on the Golden Spikes teams gain exposure to high-level competition by traveling to face challenging opponents. The program spans from age 10 through 18, with a 10u-14u being our Player Development Program, followed by a 15u-17u College Prospect Program.

The Golden Spikes teams are Showcase Baseball. Throughout your tenure as a Spike, players will get the opportunity to interact with past and current MLB players, college coaches, and MLB scouts. This opportunity is something you wont find anywhere else!

With a focus on elite training, the Golden Spikes provide a pathway for athletes aiming to excel at the next level and increase their college recruitment prospects or chances of reaching the Major Leagues. This program is known for developing talented athletes into elite-level players.

What Type of Player Becomes a Golden Spike?

NCBA seeks serious, committed, and talented players from the Triad area who are passionate about developing their baseball skills. Golden Spikes players are expected to demonstrate a strong desire to practice, learn, and train, preparing to compete at the highest levels. All participants are students from local high schools and middles schools and are dedicated to following practice routines, sports performance programs, and game schedules.

NCBA’s mission goes beyond athletic development—it aims to shape players both on and off the field, fostering growth as young men. Through this comprehensive approach, the Golden Spikes program focuses on building not only elite baseball players but also individuals with strong character and discipline.
